What should be the strategy to groom leaders of the future? Brightline Initiative spoke with Dr. Mmantsetsa Marope, Director, International Bureau of Education (IBE) at the Websummit 2018 on how to develop leaders of the future. Dr. Marope advises leaders to formulate and express a long-term vision of what the future looks like.

Once that is done, leaders need to identify the competencies that need to be built. "Leaders often do not take the enough the time to articulate their long-term vision and who should drive the future."

A collective & just approach to leadership is essential, "We should not recycle social inequality and social privileges". She emphasized the role of quality education that is relevant to the context. She said its important for the future leaders to break the cycle of their past- be it poverty or the lack of leadership.
